Here are 6 Black Owned Coffee Shops in Washington DC that will in fact change you life!
1. Lattly
Black + Woman Owned
Coldbrew meets Latte
Yes, you heard that right! Lattly (Lot-ly) use to be Black Vinegar Collective which had this cute coffee cart in the Altheia Park in Eckington. Now they order brew deliveries and service coffee at events all around the DMV!
They’re an amazing brew and here is the link to place your order (yes you can order just 1 cup) and have it delivered to you!

2. Creative Grounds
1822 North Capitol St NW, Washington, DC 20002
Picture it: You, an ice coffee, and a place packed with all the artistic vibes. 🎨✨
When I first walked into this coffee shop, I immediately felt like I could write a whole paper on whatever topic assigned to me. Granted I am not in college or going back to school at the moment but that was the atmosphere.
It truly felt like a space to have some coffee and pour into your crafts/passions/work.
3. Village Cafe
Sipping with purpose. ☕
Village Cafe is located in Union Market and was truly a favorite of mine when I first moved to DC. They are all about community and even host weekly local vendor markets in their coffee shop.
The vibe is always good in there
4. Rue Cafe
3906 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20011
Your go-to spot for vibes + brews 🌆✨
By far one of my favorite coffee shops in Washington DC. If you have ever asked me which shop is my favorite, 10/10 I will bring this coffee shop up because it doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Great brew and great energy! You won’t regret stopping in here.
5. Souk
Black + Woman Owned
705 8th St SE, Washington, DC 20003
Okay before you get at me! I will say Souk is more of a true cafe. More so bakery then anything but they do serve up some good coffee that pairs so well with their delicious pastries. So, If you're looking for a cafe that feels like stepping into a dream of culture and spice, Souk is your spot. Seating is minimal there but let’s say you go on a sunday! You could make it a coffee shop you visit before shopping around Eastern Market
6. Other’s Cafe
Black + Woman co-Owned
1722 Florida Ave NW | Fri 8-3p • Sat & Sun 9-4p
When we talk about community building this COFFEE SHOP is HER! They make such a great brew and the beans that they source are great quality. You may even see their beans being sold across DC. They have a really great Ice coffee and the owners are absolutely amazing.
I added a link to their community events you can go to! From fun coffee events to family friendly!
