DC’s Best Autumn Sips: Where to Find Fall’s Coziest Coffee Drinks

5 Must-Try Fall Coffee Drinks in DC 🍁

Hey Sipsters! 🍂

I think we can all use a BIG cozy caffeinated drink today to end the week! We had a small hiatus at Headquarters to figure out the best direction to take this newsletter and all the coffee journeys we are going to embark on from now and into 2025.

Let’s just say, you’ll be seeing A LOT of new coffee shops.

Thank you for your amazing patience! AND without further ado.

Let’s chat the ultimate cozy DC fall drinks for an autumn morning or afternoon pick me up!

It’s officially time to swap your normal flavored cold brews and iced lattes for a lineup that just makes sense!

Granted, it has been abnormally hot but I DIGRESS!

We’re talking about autumn in a cup, the drinks that make you want to jump into a pile a leaves and watch your favorite shows on repeat!

From spiced lattes to maple cold brews, I’ve scoured the city to find the most irresistible fall drinks.

So let’s dive into five fall-inspired lattes and cold brews in Washington DC thats gonna leave you feeling good inside!

---

1. Maple Cinnamon Nitro Cold Brew - Zeke’s

Maple. Cinnamon. Nitro. Cold. Brew.

DARE I say more!

Hook me up to an IV and call me an oak tree. If you are a cold brew STAN like I am, you already know that we don’t get many crazy fun flavors in our standard brew.

Which is cool, sure.

It’s just how we like it. BUT this was a fun fall twist that will leave you wanting more! seriously., I almost downed the whole 12 oz before leaving the coffee shop.

Think warmth of cinnamon that balances perfectly with the sweetness from the maple. I know, Chef’s kiss.

2 & 3.  Arequipe Latte & Otoño - The Royal

a dolce de leche hug in a mug and an espresso that’s even a non-coffee drinking for chug 🍪

I felt like if i had a book with my latte I would of been sent into another dimension. The dulce de leche is not overly sweet and it’s perfectly balanced.

and now for the secret weapon to convert any non-coffee lover

the Otoño, its a hazelnut macchiato, with hazelnut shavings! But here’s the thing, It taste more chocolatey and creamy! Like not at all like the espresso flourishing at the bottom.

Be warned. this is the size of one shot of an espresso. So don’t expect a big cup.

I think its a fun alt option to your normal brew and ideal for those who want something a little more sophisticated in their seasonal sips.

### 4. Apple Pie Chai - Buna Coffeehouse

Not your average chai or apple cider! Think of it as autumn’s answer to lemonade for chai lovers. 🍏

Fine okay, it’s not “coffee” but Buna Coffeehouse puts in the work when it comes to stepping up their game with seasonal drinks. You’ll never be left hanging when it comes to this Ethiopian coffee shop.

I never would of thought that the apple pie tartiness mixed with the serious chai spice would make a decadent flavor profile in your standard chai.

You can in fact, make this dirty, I just didn’t choose to this time.

if you do tag me (@astoldbydomm) I would love to know your thoughts!

### 5. Cardamom Brown Sugar Latte - Tryst

For a Brown Sugar twist on the classic latte, this cardamom blend is YUM!

Brown Sugar Cardamom Latte is creamy and rich, with a floral note from the cardamom that makes it so distinct.

Apparently its a pretty popular order from Tryst! The Barista recommeded it for me and I was super happy with their suggestion.

Sometime you got to take a risk and get something new. You may even find a hidden gem.

FAQ]

How often are these Newsletters

No worries, I wont spam you! They will be every THURSDAY Morning! With different coffee shop recommendations from different adventures that you can save with with downloadable maps or through your socials. My goal is to share all the great coffee shops so you can create your own adventure or find a nice place to do work in for the week!

How do you rank the coffee shops?

I base the ratings off of the brew, customer service, Atmosphere, and if I would seriously recommend a friend to stop in here! Which is truly such a strong metric!

What’s your favorite caffeinated beverage

You can ALWAYS catch me with a Cold Brew with a SPLASH of oatmilk and usually 1-2 sugars.

Where have you gone to try coffee so far

DC is my home base, so I’ve been to over 98 coffee shops here. Other places have been NYC, Spain, NJ, Northern VA, and soon Maryland

How can we support this journey

Sharing any articles or post truly means the world to me! I also have a “Buy me a coffee” page, so if you want to support this journey financially and give your girl a coffee, I would love love that!

Who are you?

My name is Domonique, but my friends call me Dom. I am a 28 year old coffee lover who fell in love with exploring coffee shops after retiring from professional track and field.
